Gift is part of celebrations of 300th anniversary of Orthodox faith in UK

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has received the gift of a Welsh Corgi puppy, Alexander Volkov, his press-secretary, informed kp.ru on Oct. 17.

The head of the Russian Orthodox Church was given the animal yesterday at a reception in London, where he is attending celebrations marking the 300th anniversary of the Orthodox faith in Britain.

“His Holiness likes the puppy very much, and will take it back with him to Moscow,” Volkov said. Whether the dog has yet received a name has not yet been reported.

In a comments made to RT, Volkov added the present was from parishioners of the Uspensky Cathedral in London.

In spring 2012 students from the University of Bulgarian Cultural Heritage gave the patriarch a Bulgarian sheepdog puppy by the name of Trojan. The dog came to live with the Primate in his residences in Peredelkino, reported RIA Novosti.
