Three people were killed and another 13 injured in a gas explosion at a residential house in the central Russian city of Ryazan, local law enforcement agencies told TASS on Oct. 23.
The main department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry in the Ryazan Region said that rescuers are now examining the house looking for other injured people. "Residents say that there is no one else in the damaged entrance, including the affected apartments," the ministry said.
Twenty-eight people were evacuated from the building.
The explosion occurred at the ninth floor of a 10-story, two-entrance residential house built in 2013.
"Firefighters and rescuers arrived to the site immediately and began the search and rescue operation without delays," the ministry said. The work at the site continues. It features almost 200 people, most of who are staff of the Emergencies Ministry.
The emergency situation alert has been announced for the local emergency services, the ministry said.
