A 'flying laboratory' for the advanced Russian-made A-100 Premier airborne warning and control system (AWACS) aircraft has performed the first flight, the press office of Russia’s United Instrument-Manufacturing Corporation told TASS.
The United Instrument-Manufacturing Corporation is a subsidiary of Russia’s state hi-tech corporation Rostec.
"The A-100LL 'flying laboratory' has performed the first flight during flight tests. The flight was smooth," the press office said.

CEO of the Vega Group Vladimir Verba said earlier that the plane was being developed in accordance with the state defense order to replace the A-50 and A-50U airborne warning and control system aircraft.
The Vega Group, a subsidiary of the United Instrument-Manufacturing Corporation, is the producer of the radar.
The A-100LL 'flying laboratory' has been developed on the basis of the organic A-50 (NATO reporting name: Mainstay) plane derived from the Ilyushin Il-76 (Candid) military transport aircraft to carry out ground and flight tests of separate elements of the promising radar, check the electromagnetic compatibility of its systems, test data exchange protocols and modes, etc.
In future, the A-100 radar will be mounted on the upgraded Il-76MD-90A plane that will serve as the basis for serial-produced examples.
