About 40 flights delayed at Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo airports
More than 30 flights have been cancelled at Moscow airports and about 40 have been delayed as airports have to deal with snow and ice, the rasp.yandex.ru timetables portal reports.
According to the website, 22 flights have been delayed and four have been cancelled at Domodedovo airport, while at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport 13 have been delayed and 29 cancelled. Flights continue in line with schedule at Vnukovo airport.
Earlier, the Ministry for Emergency Situations’ Moscow department issued a warning over snowstorms and ice-slick in Moscow and the region. It said snowfalls, in some areas heavy, and wet snow were expected in Moscow and the Moscow region from 4 p.m. on Nov. 6 to 11 a.m. on Nov. 7.
It said snowstorms would be accompanied by strong winds with gusts up to 17 meters per second and visibility of 500 to 1,000 meters. The emergencies ministry also warned about possible damage to power lines, falling trees and damage to advertising structures that could cause traffic jams.
