A special operation large unit based in the Pskov Region in northwest Russia has been alerted during a sudden combat readiness check of the mobile reserve of the Western Military District’s troops commander, the district’s press office said.
"According to the exercise’s scenario, the special operation units will move to Nizhny Novgorod [in the Volga area] to practice liberating a facility seized by simulated illegal armed groupings and searching for and neutralizing notional terrorists," the press office said.
The special operation units have already arrived at an operational airfield in the Pskov Region and started boarding military transport planes.
The maneuvers involved more than 300 servicemen, as well as Gusar and Tigr special vehicles.
