More than 25 people suspected of extremism and abetting terrorism have been held in a large-scale special operation in Moscow and surrounding areas, a law enforcement source told TASS on Dec. 7.
"The special operation was conducted by FSB officers together with the Interior Ministry’s anti-extremism center and special police units," the source said.
The detentions were held at a dozen of addresses in Moscow and the surrounding Moscow Region.
The detainees are suspected of extremist activities, abetting terrorism and ties with supporters of Wahhabism, identified as the main source of global terrorism by the European Parliament in 2013.
