Russian reporter Alexander Shchetinin found dead in Ukraine’s capital - UPD

Russian reporter Alexander Shchetinin was found dead in his flat in Kiev the night to Aug. 27, the 112 Ukraine television channel reported on Aug. 28.

"Shchetinin’s friends found him on the balcony as they came to congratulate him on the birthday," the television channel said. "He was sitting on a chair, with a bullet mark on the head (a gun was under the chair)."

The Ukrainian media say now investigation looks into the version of suicide, as they say the reporter has sent an e-mail message to a friend, where he wrote about the intention to commit a suicide.

Alexander Shchetinin is a Russian journalist, the founder of the Novy Region (New Region) information agency. 

UPD at 1:30pm: Shchetinin had financial problems, his former colleagues told TASS on Aug. 28.  

"Because of the overdue wages, practically all the staff quit his Internet portal, and he had even to sell a   car and a flat to make ends meet somehow," she said.

Besides, she said, the journalist had family problems. The colleagues do not rule out the man could have committed suicide.

Head of Kiev’s police Anrei Krishchenko said earlier on Aug. 28, law enforcers consider a version of deliberate   murder, adding "there are also many evidences of a suicide."
