The time and place of the first meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump has not been discussed in detail yet, Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters.
"It is a good question - where and when (the meeting could take place)," he said. "This issue has not been discussed in detail through diplomatic channels yet. We have some suggestions and the U.S. must have some too, but we haven’t discussed it yet," the presidential aide said.
According to Ushakov, Putin will participate in the G20 summit in Hamburg in July.
"The president is expected to represent Russia at the G20 summit," he said noting that "various options (for the meeting between Putin and Trump) have been circulating in the media, even some officials have come up with proposals."
In this regard, Ushakov pointed to a statement made by the Slovenian president who expressed readiness to host the two leaders’ meeting.
"However, Russia and the U.S. have not yet discussed this matter in detail," the Russian presidential aide reiterated. The G20 summit will be held in Hamburg on July 7-8. As reported earlier, Trump will take part in the NATO summit in Brussels on May 25.
