President Vladimir Putin took a 24-hour mini holiday and spent the night in the Siberian taiga, said Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
"He was there last night, and tonight he'll also spend there. He'll be back in Moscow early tomorrow morning," Peskov said.
Putin arrived in the city of Krasnoyarsk on Feb. 28 to chair a session on preparations for the 29th Winter Universiade to be held there in 2019.
After the meeting, which took place on March 1, the president decided to stay in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and experience a night in the region's extraordinary natural environment.
"Conditions are like during hiking, and I cannot reveal any more details,” Peskov said, as quoted (in Russian) by RIA Novosti.
He did not elaborate whether the president was accompanied by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
"As regards Shoigu, I can’t say anything. I don’t have information. Since these 24 hours are part of the president's personal rather than work schedule, I simply don’t know,” Peskov told journalists, reported (in Russian) RIA Novosti.
