The Islamic State terrorist grouping has claimed responsibility for an attack on a base of the Federal National Guard Troops Service (Russian Guards) in the township of Naurskaya in Chechnya, a spokesperson for the Russian Guards public relations section told TASS.
"The Islamic State terrorist grouping has assumed responsibility for an attack on the Russian Guards base in the township of Naurskaya, the Chechen Republic," he said. "The Fact proves once again the Russian Guards units are on the forefront of struggle with international terrorism."
The spokesman said six soldiers who died as a result of the attack performed their duty of defenders in full. "The militants were destroyed and the Russian Guardsmen showed once again they counteract the terrorist threats and defend reliably the peaceful life of people in Russia," he said. Around 02:30 MSK on March 24 a group of six gunmen attacked a facility of the Russian Guards in Chechnya. In the course of a combat clash that ensued, all the attackers were rendered neutral but six federal soldiers died and another three received wounds.
The antiterrorist agencies have put all the units of the Russian Guards in North Caucasus on full combat alert in the wake of the attack. In the meantime, Chechnya’s President Ramzan Kadyrov said he thought blame for the early morning attack on the base in the Nausrky district went to himself and the agencies of law and order, which "had relaxed". Along with it, he said the efforts to eliminate the terrorist threat would continue. "In this case, it’s my fault, as well as the fault of the forces of law and order in our republic," he told reporters in the Chechen capital Grozny. "I think we relaxed too much; we thought we had neutralized and seized all of them (terrorists) but these devils are harboring spiteful plans and as we can see, they don’t want to stop."
